About Andrew

Born in 1987 in Omaha, Neb., Andrew lived there for seven years before his family relocated to Overland Park, Kan. Andrew graduated from Blue Valley High School in 2006, and currently attends Western Kentucky University.

An avid sports fan, Andrew is currently pursuing his dream of becoming a sports journalist. He is majoring in news-editorial journalism at WKU.

Andrew will be an online/multimedia intern at the Wall Street Journal in the summer of 2010.

Currently Andrew is the editor-in-chief of the award-winning College Heights Herald and has worked at the paper since 2006.

Since becoming EIC of the Herald, Andrew helped to develop the Herald’s new, re-designed website. The new wkuherald.com earned first place in the Associated Collegiate Press Convention best in show contest in 2009.

During his time at the Herald he has had the opportunity to cover numerous games in addition to Sun Belt Conference Championships, the 2007 NCAA Volleyball Tournament and the 2008 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Andrew was the sports editor for both the fall 2008 and spring 2009 semesters. While sports editor, he oversaw the development of the Herald’s sports blog, “Topper Talk.” He also helped produce a special section covering the Hilltoppers in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

Andrew has also freelanced for the Louisville Courier-Journal, Baton Rouge Advocate, Tampa Tribune and frequently covers high school sports for the Bowling Green Daily News. He also has experience in sports television production as an intern for Kansas City’s Metro Sports. He was also a free-lance camera operator and runner for Fox Sports-Kansas City in the Summer of 2008.

    Dude! I love this. Not enough people are figuring out how to use the aspects of new media to enhance their journalism. This is a great thing you got working here. I’ll be keeping tabs on you.
